March Art Journaling

Since many of us are still in St Patrick's day mode, we thought we'd have a little fun with the journaling prompt "Lucky Me" this month. We have also added a criteria for this month's entry; it must incorporate some sort of collage element. Using collage elements in mixed media can be very exciting. They add focus and interest to a page, providing instant material to use as a starting point, or the perfect embellishment for a finished page. 

Things to try: 

• use cut text or letters from printed materials to create your journaling or message.
• use pages from old books as a great background option
• cut decorative papers and "build" new elements. ( great use of scraps!)
• fussy cut images from scrapbook papers or magazines.
• use stickers and die cuts, leaving them as is, or altering with paint or ink.
• use photocopies or prints of your favorite photos.
• ephemera such as clothing tags, tickets, 

Practical Scrapper Alison created a collage using photos of her family and organic/garden themed images from magazines. In her part of the world Spring is making itself known with new life appearing daily in the garden. She wanted to create something that documented how lucky she feels to be out of the worst of the Winter weather as well as how lucky she feels to be surrounded by loving faces every day. Truly lucky indeed!

Practical Scrapper Erin kept it whimsical and used ink, acrylic paint, paper and stickers to create her 2 page art journal entry.She added paint and ink to the tree and cloud stickers, and paper to the sun to help incorporate them in the scene.

Practical Scrapper Lanette started with a collage background created using various scraps of green paper. She also uses photos and helps incorporate them into the page by use of doodles.

Practical Scrapper Bobbi created her collage by fussy cutting images of vintage photos and vintage ephemera.
